MVP144i - Remove \N3\C1\V1 from default Quarterdeck Internet Suite init string
The MVP144i and MVP144XF are RPI (software error correction and data cormpression) modems. They work rather well if the comm application's DTE is set to 57,600 and +H3 is added to the initialization string while the WinRPI drivers are loaded.

    --------Win 3.x installation instructions
!!!DO NOT INSTALL THE MODEM YET!!!
--Disable a COM port in the system setup or I/O controller card (prefferably COM2).
--From Windows, run a:\setup from the floppies provided with the modem.
----If the system locks on install, reboot the computer.
----If the system continues to lock, REM out the plugplay drivers line in the config.sys (usually line 1), and begin the installation again.
--Install the modem when prompted to do so.
--To set up the Quarterdeck Internet software, choose an AT compatible 14.4KBps as the modem type or choose Cardinal MVP 144Win and remove the \N3 from the init string.

    --------Win 95 installation instructions
!!!DO NOT INSTALL THE MODEM YET!!!
--Disable a COM port in the system setup or I/O controller card (prefferably COM 2).
--Install a COM port in Windows by opening My Computer | Control Panel | Add New Hardware. Do not let windows detect the hardware. Choose Ports as the hardware type. --Install the modem.
--Restart the computer. When Windows finds the new modem, tell it to use a driver supplied by the manufacturer, and insert disk 1.
--To set up the Quarterdeck Internet software, choose AT compatible 14.4 KBps as the modem type or choose Cardinal MVP 144Win and remove the \N3 from the init string.

NOTE: The MVPxxxI2 series uses a program called PnPset that loads upon bootup in the autoexec.bat file. By default, the command line for the PnP drivers will load on the last line of the autoexec.bat. If you have the line "win" in your autoexec.bat, you need to move the pnpset... command line before the win command line or the PnP drivers will not load until after you exit Windows.

MVP288i voicemail modem and MVP 288i2 PnP modem
Follow the setup instructions given above, except choose an AT compatible 28.8KBps as the modem type in the Quarterdeck Internet Suite set up.

AT&F&C1&D2&K3S7=60 usually works as an acceptable init string for the modems listed above.
Remember to add +H3 for the RPI modems (after the WinRPI drivers have been loaded).
